A new certified Professional Scrum Master at q-leap!

Dennis Monteiro is head of IT governance and project manager at q-leap. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Delhi, India. Before joining q-leap, Dennis Monteiro spent 5 years with RBC Investor & Treasury Services in Luxembourg, and 4 years in Toronto (Canada) as a solutions architect.

After more than a year as IT Governance Manager and Project Manager at q-leap, Dennis is now a certified Professional Scrum Master.

For those unfamiliar with Scrum, it’s simply a framework of values, roles and artifacts designed to foster better collaboration within a project team, enabling faster creation of products or services with self-organizing, self-learning teams. In essence, Scrum is a human- and user-centered approach to project management, particularly suited to complex projects.

For a brief history, Scrum was initially developed in the early 90s by Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber for the IT industry, and has now spread to virtually all sectors such as banking, non-profit organizations, government, retail, insurance, telecommunications, and more.

To manage his Scrum team, the Scrum Master needs two essential qualities: empathy and commitment. What’s more, the Scrum Master is a servant leader for the Scrum team. He fosters a sense of community and helps develop the communication and organizational aspect within his Scrum team to get their projects up and running and stay solution-focused, which is extremely important in project management.

LEARNING NEW THINGS IS EASIER THAN APPLYING WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED. NOW COMES THE HARD PART!“DENNIS MONTEIRO
