The financial sector, like many others, has to adapt to strict digital accessibility standards. Our mission was to help our client, a major player in Luxembourg’s financial sector, ensure that its digital services complied with current standards, in particular the Référentiel Général d’Amélioration de l’Accessibilité Web (RGAA). To meet this challenge, we developed a comprehensive testing and quality assurance strategy, implementing appropriate tools and automating tests at API and user interface level. This approach has ensured the application’s performance and reliability on different platforms, thus meeting digital accessibility requirements.

1 – Challenges

In a project aimed at guaranteeing the accessibility of applications, several challenges can be encountered.

Understanding standards and regulations: It’s essential to have a good understanding of accessibility standards such as the Référentiel Général d’Amélioration de l’Accessibilité Web (RGAA) and current regulations, which can be complex and require specific expertise.

Adapting existing applications: For companies that already have applications in place, adapting them to make them accessible can be a challenge. This may require significant changes to the application’s source code and architecture.

Testing and validation: Testing the accessibility of applications on different platforms and for different types of disability can be complex. You need the right tools and skills to carry out complete and accurate tests.

Awareness-raising and training: Making development and design teams aware of the importance of accessibility and training them in best practices can be a challenge. It is crucial to create a corporate culture focused on accessibility, and to provide the necessary resources to support this goal.

Maintaining compliance: Once applications have been made accessible, it’s important to maintain compliance over time. This requires continuous monitoring and regular updates to keep pace with evolving standards and technologies.
