The Grand Duchy “must be ready for tomorrow”.

LUXEMBOURG – PRIME MINISTER XAVIER BETTEL MET WITH Q-LEAP EMPLOYEES IN LUXEMBOURG ON THURSDAY TO DISCUSS DIGITALIZATION IN THE COUNTRY.

On Thursday, q-leap held a one-hour meeting with the Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, to discuss digitalization in Luxembourg. For this company, which tests applications to improve their quality and security, Luxembourg needs to move forward in the technology sector by enabling its population to better train in this area of activity, “because specialized profiles still come too often from abroad”.

“I was very positively surprised by Xavier Bettel’s interest in small companies developing new technologies,” admits Hubert Schumacher, founder and director of q-leap. “His visit is a very good signal for us. It’s proof that we’re gaining visibility at home and abroad. Our aim is to support our customers to help them improve the quality of their software and thus avoid any form of ‘bug'”.

AN INFORMED USER

“It’s always a pleasure for me to discover that Luxembourg is a country where people want to get started,” enthused Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister and Minister of Communications. “Q-leap started from one man, in 2012, and they are 23, six years later. I’m a convinced user of new technologies, and for me it’s very exciting to hear how an application works and how specialists can solve the problems encountered.”

Always at ease and close to his interlocutors, Xavier Bettel won over the q-leap employees with his interest. “It’s the first time I’ve met a politician so attentive to what I have to say,” says Sylvain Perez, CEO of the company. “I was very surprised to meet a tech-savvy user, and even had to adapt my presentation and talk about applications he uses on a daily basis”.

As Minister of Communications, Xavier Bettel is firmly focused on the future, and believes that the “digital dossier” is a cross-cutting competence for all other ministries. “We have to be ready for tomorrow, because we have to stay on the digital train, which won’t pass by twice,” he insists. “If we miss this step, Luxembourg will lose its autonomy and we’ll be dependent on other countries. At European level, it’s high time we put in place a strategy to avoid being squeezed between the American (Apple, Amazon) and Asian (Samsung, AliBaba) giants, and to become the ‘big players’ of tomorrow”.
