Dennis The “Test my App” Meetup has always been a concept for Luxembourg-based startups and companies to test not only their applications, but also their feature ideas and test their hypothesis. The target audience is extremely diverse, ranging from entrepreneurs to human resources, marketing and communications professionals, developers and architects. They will be able to test both the content and the container of the application.

Since 2017, 4 “Test my App” events have taken place at which several apps have been able to put themselves forward for testing. In view of this success, Philip Grother decided to call on q-leap for support during the session, to benefit from their expertise in software quality assurance and to professionalize the event.

For their first participation, q-leap went to The Office on February 26 to help test Supermiro, an application that is already well established in Luxembourg and enjoying great media success.

In preparation for February’s “Test my App” Meetup, the young “Made in Luxembourg” start-up already had a number of questions it wanted to put to testers. Well-structured questionnaires were drawn up. The course of the evening was defined according to the standards in which q-leap specializes, and for whom the test knows no secrets.

The evening consisted of 3 groups of users, with each group passing through 3 isolated test centers to ensure that the feedback collected was as homogeneous as possible.

The aim of Cluster 1, “To the Future”, was to highlight the elements that will make it easier to welcome users when they first start out, and ensure that future new users have a better experience.

Neophytes started with Pole 2 “Face to Face” to gauge the experience of a new Supermiro user. The aim is to understand how their new users adopt the digital solution.

Pole 3 was a more guided exploratory test pole to help “super users” discover more specific functionalities. The aim was to get to know the application’s shadows and guide Supermiro to the most important functions.

The evening succeeded in creating a “win-win” situation and proving that there was a real thirst among companies for feedback from those who use it. Numerous companies have asked the “Test my App” team to come and test their applications.

The feedback gathered will also enable the start-up to validate its development roadmap, focusing on the major points raised by users. It goes without saying that some of the areas for improvement were already foreseen by Supermiro, and that priorities may have been redefined by the commitment expressed by the market.

” We’d been wanting to organize a user experience test for a long time. When the opportunity arose to collaborate with “Test my App” and q-leap, it gave us a pretext to go ahead and organize it. The testing evening took place on our premises and was a real success: convivial, friendly and super-helpful, given that this was our first Supermiro event.<\/em>

In terms of feedback, we’ve had very positive comments on the quality and design of our product. We’ve identified a number of areas for improvement that we’d already suspected, but feedback from our super testers has confirmed these doubts. The very next day, we put in place a list of “quick-wins” that have already been integrated into the next update of the application.<\/em>

\"\"The evening also enabled us to identify other, deeper, structural issues. We have incorporated these elements into the development of our future new functions. Our aim is always to simplify and design the best possible interface for our super users.<\/em>

We’ve taken to the game, and want to repeat the experience as often as possible, to improve our products and our service, but also to confirm our choices regarding future developments through user feedback before we even develop them!<\/em>

For q-leap, this experience once again demonstrated that user experience testing has become a key activity. This is a type of test that reveals the quality and viability of an application during its design or evolution phase. These tests, carried out beforehand by advanced functional tests, are the foundations of successful application quality management, enabling the delivery of a reliable, operational version of a solution.

” User experience tests such as those carried out this evening are essential to the success of a digital product. Whether it’s a website or a mobile application, if the proposed graphical interface isn’t adapted to a certain group of users, then they won’t be able to use the product even if it’s functionally perfect.<\/em>

It’s no longer a question of digital project managers being content with functional tests to decide whether or not to launch an app. Non-functional tests, whether usability or performance tests, are critical in a digital testing project.<\/em>

Mobile users are different. An application has only a few seconds to seduce a user. If it doesn’t, it will be uninstalled as quickly as it was installed, and will certainly never be downloaded again. That’s why understanding how users use a digital solution, as Supermiro did this evening, is one of the keys to getting closer to the 5th star on the App Store or Play Store. <\/em>“explains Julien Desmulier<\/strong>, Head of Testing at Q-Leap.
