Challenges
The existing test cases were obsolete and did not match the new upgrade. As part of this upgrade, existing test cases were found to be obsolete, no longer suitable for the new functionalities or changes introduced. This underlined the importance of updating test cases to ensure effective validation of the new software version. As part of an essential software upgrade, several critical steps were taken to ensure the success of this process.
Solutions
As part of the essential system update, we undertook several crucial steps to ensure the quality and success of the process, from gathering user stories to preparing the test closure report.
- Gather relevant user stories from internal users to understand how the upgrade will affect them and confirm how they currently interact with the system.
- During this stage, we adapted and created new test cases to verify the new updates, including functional, integration, quality assurance, data integrity and security test cases.
- Perform functional, non-functional and quality assurance tests. We managed the testing process, capturing and tracking problems. We also supervised the experience during user acceptance testing.
- Prepare a test closure report, consolidating relevant data and information from test cases and defect reports, which was presented to stakeholders for launch approval.
Elite 3E V3 went into production in less than 5 months, despite the presence of a few minor functional defects. To ensure the quality and reliability of this transition, we ran over 120 test cases, guaranteeing a successful roll-out despite the challenges encountered.
In conclusion, the successful deployment of Elite 3E V3 in production in less than 5 months, despite a few minor functional anomalies, testifies to our commitment to quality and rigorous testing. The more than 120 test cases carried out were essential in guaranteeing the system’s stability, demonstrating our ability to meet challenges and ensure a smooth transition to production. This success reinforces our ongoing commitment to excellence in project management and the implementation of critical software updates for our customers.
